Apple cake is a brilliant way of using up the apples from the garden – or the bag you got from the supermarket. Here's a super easy one with cinnamon, served with creme fraiche. Enjoy!

Directions

1. Preheat your oven to 175 degrees fan assisted.

2. Whisk the oil with sugar and brown farin or sugar using a hand mixer, and add the eggs one by one while you whisk the batter fluffy. Then peel apples, cut into wedges and chunks and save for later.

3. Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl: Flour, cinnamon, baking powder, vanilla sugar and salt. Fold the dry mix into the batter and stir well. Then add apples and stir until you have an even batter.

4. Add the batter to a springform or cake tin (approx. 25 x 30 cm) lined with baking parchment. Bake the cake for about 30-35 minutes, until no batter sticks when you poke it with a knitting needle.

5. Serve the cake with creme fraiche. And enjoy!

Tip

Tasks for younger kids in the kitchen: Let your kids help add the ingredients to the bowl, and whisk the batter. They can also help cut the apples.
