Fried onion goes well with SO many dishes – and the homemade version simply takes it to ever greater heights. Super simple to make, and you can opt to make them as onion rings if you prefer. Enjoy!

Directions

1. Dice the onion with your best and sharpest knife.

2. Add flour and onion to a large freezer bag and shake well.

3. Heat the oil in a deep pan or pot. Once the oil starts to sizzle when you add a single piece of onion, it's hot enough.

4. Now fry the onion until beautifully golden – this takes about 5 minutes. Leave to drip off on some kitchen roll, and sprinkle with salt. Enjoy!

Tip

Tasks for younger kids in the kitchen: Let your kids give the bag a proper shake, to mix the flour and onion.
