You’re no doubt familiar with the intoxicating scent of sweet and crispy churros from fairgrounds and Christmas markets – now you can bring that amazing smell into your own kitchen, and serve warm churros with cinnamon sugar for the family. They're pretty easy to make, and super tasty. Enjoy!

Directions

1. Add water to a pot and heat up along with butter until melted.

2. Mix flour, baking powder, vanilla sugar, cinnamon, salt and sugar and add to the hot water in the pot. Whisk well to create an even, lump free batter. Switch off the hob and let the batter cool slightly – we may suggest moving it to a different bowl.

3. Once you can poke the batter with a finger without burning yourself, add one egg at a time while stirring well. Use a wooden spoon or the like. Once the batter is smooth and lump free, add to a freezer bag or piping bag with a star shaped tip with a big opening. Remember to pop in the piping tip before adding the batter to the bag.

4. Heat the oil in a deep pan or pot. Once the oil has started sizzling when poked something like a toothpick, it's hot enough.

5. Now pipe ribbons of batter about 10-15 cm long into the oil, and use a knife or pair of scissors to cut it off with. Once golden and crispy, remove with a slotted spoon or tongs. Place on a grate.

6. Mix cinnamon and sugar well and sprinkle it over the scrumptious churros.

7. And it's munching time. Enjoy!

Tip

Tasks for younger kids in the kitchen: Let your kids help add ingredients to the pot. They can also mix cinnamon sugar.
