Chocolate scones - ready in 30 minutes

  • 380 gramsplain flour
  • 50 gramssugar
  • 1 tbspvanilla sugar
  • 1.5 tbspbaking powder
  • 0.5 tspsalt
  • 100 gramsbutter
  • 220 mlmilk
  • 100 gramsdark chocolate

Scones are the quickest and easiest baked treat to offer unexpected guests (or snacky kids). It takes at most 30 minutes from start to finish to bake our version with chocolate. And they're of course super tasty - especially while still warm. Enjoy!

Directions

1. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees.

2. Pour all the dry ingredients into a bowl. Crumble the butter into the dry mix with your fingers, until it almost looks like breadcrumbs. Bring together the dough by adding milk bit by bit.

3. Finely chop the chocolate and fold into the dough. Don't knead the dough too much after this point.

4. Shape round rolls with your hands - tap on a bit of flour, as the dough can be a bit sticky. Pop the lovely scones onto a sheet tray lined with baking parchment.

5. Brush the scones with some beaten egg, and bake for about 10-12 minutes.

6. And we're ready to snack - enjoy!

Tip

Tasks for kids in the kitchen: Let your kids help crumble butter into the flour. They can also chop the chocolate and shape the scones - remember, they're allowed to look a bit rustic.
