'Bubble waffles' might be a bit of a tongue twister, but it sure is a delicious one! You can make this recipe with a regular waffle iron, or a proper bubble waffle iron, which makes for super special waffles with big, tasty – you guessed it – bubbles. We've filled these with ice cream, berries, whipped cream, wafer straws and sprinkles, but you can use absolutely anything you like. Enjoy!

Directions

1. Heat up your waffle iron.

2. Mix flour, sugar, vanilla sugar, baking powder and salt in a bowl.

3. Add eggs, oil and water and whisk well, so you have an even and lump free batter.

4. Brush a bit of oil into each hole or divot, and add the batter so it covers all holes in your waffle iron. Close and flip the iron. Let the waffles bake until golden brown. If using a regular waffle iron, just cook them as you would regular waffles.

5. You can serve the waffles on a plate with the toppings, well, on top, or you can pop them in glasses and shape them into cones. Then wrap paper or carton around them.

6. Serve with your choice of toppings – we've used ice cream, berries, whipped cream, wafer straws and sprinkles. Enjoy!

Tip

Tasks for younger kids in the kitchen: Let your kids help add all the ingredients to the bowl. They can also help whisk the batter. If you like, you can add one teaspoon of corn flour to the recipe – it makes the waffles a bit crispier, and easier to divide into sections.
